President's Letter
Dear INDC members,

It has been a challenging year for all of us and the non-profits we work to support.  Many of us have been laid off or had our hours reduced.  Many non-profits have been forced to cut services or reduce hours.  From the arts- to environment- to human services; we have all had to work harder to bring in the dollars needed to support the programs that serve our constituencies.

In difficult times like these it is even more important to network with our colleagues, to support and learn from each other and work together to keep our non-profits strong and relevant in our community.  This makes INDC an even more valuable resource.

Now is the time to reach out to each other and come together to network, learn and create opportunity.  I encourage each of you to renew your membership, to let us konw what you need to excel in your job, to use INDC as a resource if you need to hire or find a new job.  Talk to us - let us know if you want to be a part of the board next year, what kinds of programs you would like to see offered and what your INDC cand do to make your professional life more productive and fulfilling.

Sincerely,

Lorna Walsh
INDC President

March 24 membership meeting
"How to Tell Your Most Effective Story"
Presented by David Tanner, North by Northwest Productions
March 24, 2010
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Commons at Mukogawa Ft. Wright Institute
4000 W. Randolph Rd., Spokane
RSVP today

About the program:
You'd like to create a fundraising video, but you're not sure where to begin.  How do you tell your most effective story with a video?  Who should you have on camera?  What elements are important for your video?  Who should you leave out?  Once you have a video, what do you do with it?

This program will prepare you for producing an effective fundraising video for your organization.  Dave Tanner will provide examples of highly successful fundraising videos and offer these valuable tips to help you get started:
  • How to make the connection with the audience
  • What not to include in a video
  • Ways to save money when producing a video
  • Ways to share your video beyond your fundraising event
Whether you are planning a video, needing to update one, or you already have a video and you want to make it work for you, this program will guide you through the next step.  Add to your arsenal of fundraising tools with an effective video story!

About David Tanner:
As one of the founders of North by Northwest Productions, Dave Tanner is the Producer, Director and President of the Nonfiction Programming Division.  In this capacity, Dave has produced projects for numerous non-profit organizations, and recently directed an award-winning cross-platform public information project for the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

Meeting overview:
As always, we will offer time to network (beginning at 11:30), provide lunch and hold a business meeting before the program begins at 12:30.

Nonmembers are welcome for a guest fee of $25, which includes lunch.

There will be much to discuss at this business meeting, including information about electing next year's executive committee. We greatly benefit from your input in these discussions, so we hope to see you there!
